Environment and Conservation

We are all responsible for the world we live in and it goes without saying that we should all therefore  shoulder some of the responsibility for preserving and conserving it. There are lots of different debates about the environment, about climate change and about conservation. Many of these debates are about the 'footprint' of the Travel and Tourism Industry, and in particular how the Industry has contributed to the carbon footprint and the forest footprint, often without realising it. For example, many products contain elements that have been sourced from the rain forest, and increases in air travel are reported to impact on our carbon footprint.   Whilst some of places we go to are impacted  by deforestation, and probably all by climate change, we are very aware at Responsible Photography Holidays that these places would be impacted on even more seriously if we didn't go there at all. People's livelihoods would be at stake. So, it's a difficult debate with lots of pros and cons. At Responsible Photography Holidays, we work with our local partners to support local livelihoods, and do try raise awareness of different environmental and conservation issues at a local level when planning our holidays.

Everyone will have a different opinion, or view on these important issues, including the people below.  Take a couple of minutes to watch their videos - we hope you'll find them as thought provoking.

We like the Prince's Rainforest Project - and especially the well travelled frog - if only we could all hop from place to place......!!

RECYCLING

In the Countries we visit with Responsible Photography Holidays, recycling is part of every day life for many of the population - not always by choice but by necessity.  The UK is making efforts to recycle, reduce our landfill and raise awareness of pollution but we all need to do our bit.  Would you like to find out more about recycling in your local area ? Your Local Authority recycling team - link will be able to help or check out what can or can't be recycled here:-
