Photo_Projects

Responsible Photography Projects involve our local partners and Gail's goal is to set up projects in each of the Countries we visit.    Both short and long term projects that will not only develop skills and talents, but will let local guides, staff, children and their families tell their own story of their lives and environments.

Responsible Photography Holidays first photo project is in Morocco. During late 2010/11 it is hoped to introduce a second photo project in Rwanda. As well as our photo projects, our local partners, guides and helpers are all encouraged to get involved with our photography holidays - and to participate as much as possible. In fact, they are really keen and you'll see alot of their photos on this website!

The Mountain Village Photo Project

Winner Kids & Young People category!

The Mountain Village Photo Project involves children from two village schools, located in a remote mountain village high in the Atlas Mountains, Morocco.  Homes here do not have water or electricity. Some families have TV's which are run via photo-electric panels.  Water is collected from one of 4 village taps. The nearest medical help is 6kms away.  Life is tough for the Berber families who live here, so to help their livelihoods, the community is developing sustainable initiatives.  Brian Walton paints an accurate picture of life in the villages in his guest journal - written after his holiday in April 2009.

The children, and their families, loved having photographs of themselves so  Gail and her Moroccan partners decided to set the project up to give the children their own opportunity to have fun with photography. The project needs a variety of equipment - so before you throw out any old camera equipment, photo albums or bags, please get in touch as we can probably find put it to good use.

There's more info on the Mountain village Photo Project website, launched on World Responsible Tourism Day, 11th November 2009.
