Please read all the other information provided in this section - the Booking info, Jabs, Health &  Hygiene, Insurance, Booking Conditions and Essential Travel Info.

Important Booking Information
Here you will find important information to think about when considering your holiday. (Lots of info/suggestions/help is provided when your booking is confirmed). Please note we do need the minimum  people stated to operate  our holidays.

Passport
Your passport should be valid for at least 6 full months after the return flight date of your holiday.

Visas
UK Nationals need a visa for Ethiopia and China, but do not need a visa for Morocco or Rwanda.  Nationals from other countries are responsible for obtaining any necessary visa prior to their holiday.  Visas are the travellers responsibility.

Insurance - Travel, Supplier and Flight Failure
It is a condition of booking that comprehensive travel insurance is obtained that covers 'adventure travel' and is valid  for travel to your choice of holiday destination, from the date your holiday booking is made.  Please note that travel insurance provided with, for example, a credit card, may not provide adequate cover.  If you are uninsured, the British Embassy or High Commission do not pay for any medical or repatriation costs. A copy of your travel insurance and emergency contact details  will be required by us prior to your holiday departure date.  We recommend that you purchase supplier and flight failure insurance so that all elements of your holiday are insured.

Jabs, Health & Safety
The Jabs, Health & Safety page has info and links to check the recommendations/requirements for the necessary medical considerations /jabs -  there are quite a few needed for Rwanda and Ethiopia - so please check sooner rather than later.  We suggest going to see the nurse at your local Doctor's surgery.

References and/or CRB checks
References and/or CRB checks are required for anyone joining a Volunteer holiday or for anyone who is interested in assisting with our photography or volunteer projects. You may already have a CRB check (depending on your job, or through being a volunteer). Please discuss with us.

Disabled Travellers
Please talk to us in confidence to help you decide whether our holidays are suitable, depending on your  individual circumstances.  We will do our best to assist, but due to the nature of most of our holidays, if you have limited mobility, or are a wheelchair user then it is likely that some of our holidays will not be suitable. The reason for this is that we are supporting local people rather than larger organisations with the means to facilitate the necessary services.  Most of our accommodations are therefore very small, and are reached via steps or along unmade paths.  Rooms can be compact and some do not have electricity and facilities are shared. However, please talk to us and we will do our very best for you.

Not included
Passport, visa, vaccination, medical and insurance costs.  Travel to and from holiday start location, flights and all associated costs (taxes,  excess baggage, airport  costs, meals).  All drinks, laundry, porterage, personal tipping (a way of life  and expected!) and other personal items during your holiday.  Any optional tours or activities, tipping of the local driver and/or local guide. Most meals are included; check each holiday description for full details.

Flights
Organising, booking and paying for flights are the responsibility of the traveller.  We are able to discuss flight options and assist with flight suggestions, but do not make flight bookings on your behalf. Links and more info on the 2010 Photo Holidays Calendar.

Flights to Marrakech, Morocco   -  direct flights with Royal Air Maroc, Easyjet and Ryanair . Note that most airlines charge for baggage,  meals etc etc.
Flights to Kigali, Rwanda   -  Brussels Airlines or Kenya Airways.  Kenya Airways can involve a lengthy stopover at Nairobi airport on the return journey and Brussels Airlines is via Belgium.
Flights to Ethiopia - Ethiopian Airways direct to Addis Ababa
Flights to China - Air China fly direct to Beijing International (PEK). Other direct flights include Virgin Atlantic.
Flights from Australia and New Zealand
We've had feedback that the Flight Centre is really helpful for booking  flights to coincide with our photo holidays.
Also worth checking out Emirates for Ethiopia, and Southern China Airways for Beijing. Marrakech via Paris is worth looking at. Might be worth booking an additional nights accommodation before the start of your  holiday to allow for any jetlag?!

Holiday Money
Credit Cards are not widely accepted in the places we go to. Please plan to take sterling, euros or dollars.  A guide on what to budget for/local costs will be provided.

Personal Fitness- medical, assistance etc
Please note that to enjoy your holiday it helps to be reasonably fit.  If you have any concerns, or special requirements then please discuss these, in confidence, with us. Because some of the places we go to have no or unreliable electricity, it isn't always possible to store medical supplies, for example, in a fridge - but we will do our very best to overcome any challenges.

Accommodation and Meals
All  holidays are costed on shared accommodation which is local standard and varies depending on whether we are staying with a local community, or in a local town. Single accommodation is not always available but can be requested/and additional cost advised.  People travelling as an individual share with someone of the same sex. In Morocco we stay in a family house,  in Rwanda and China we stay in a mix of local style homes, guesthouses and hotels, in Ethiopia we stay in guesthouses, camp sites and hotels.   If you are looking for luxury then these holidays are not for you!  Our emphasis is on the location and experience.   Most meals are included in the holiday price - see individual holiday descriptions. Please discuss/advise any dietary requirements prior to booking. Please  note that certain allergys, for example, nut allergies, may be difficult to cater for due to the nature of these holidays.

Travel Light
It's best to travel light- suggestions on what is needed or would be good to take are provided.  Deodorant and clean socks are top of the list!!!! Rwanda does not permit plastic bags to be taken into the country, and we encourage reducing their use because of the problems they cause the natural environment.  On arrival at Kigali airport any plastic bags will be confiscated. We suggest using cloth bags, drysacs or waterproof bags.

What to think about when planning a trip to Morocco.
Morocco is a Muslim country and travellers are asked to respect the culture and traditional ways by dressing modestly and to refrain from drinking alcohol in the mountain villages.

What to think about when planning a trip to Rwanda, Ethiopia and China.
Allow time for the vaccinations that are required, and malaria tablets are a necessity.  Please check with your Doctor and please buy your malaria tablets from a reputable source, preferably your Doctor. Visas are required for Ethiopia and China.

'share and care' and Volunteer projects
Details about anything special that might be needed or suggestions for materials you might like to take for the projects will be discussed with you.

No Smoking Policy
There is a 'no smoking' policy when travelling in our vehicles, at meal times, and in many of the places we stay at.

Private Groups
A private itinerary for a holiday for your private group can be arranged. Please contact us to discuss your group's requirements.

Support

Missed Flight
We cannot delay the start of our journey in the event of you missing your flight, however we will do our best to help you join the group at the earliest possible opportunity. Any additional costs are the clients responsibility.
Medical Assistance
We will make sure that any necessary medical care is received, but you must have  medical insurance that is current and valid for the country/activity you are visiting.
Cash Advance
Only in cases of extreme emergency can we assist with a cash advance. Please ensure you have sufficient funds for your holiday spending. Credit Cards are NOT widely accepted in the Countries we go to.
Crisis Management
We work closely with our local  partners and suppliers to ensure your safety and care throughout your holiday.  In the event of a crisis or emergency we will do everything we can to ensure your safety and care.

Itineraries and prices
The payment method for your holiday is by sterling cheque. We hope that itineraries and prices will not be subject to change, but due to the current economic climate, we reserve the right to do so. Please read this information. It is hoped that prices will not increase greatly, but this depends on costs and exchange rate fluctuations. Holidays booked with deposits paid before February 28th 2010 will remain as quoted and will not incur surcharges unless currency rates  or fuel costs  applied to the particular holiday increase above 2% of total holiday cost. We are a very small Company working with local partners  and we will only increase our prices quoted should exchange rate fluctuations or local implications impact on the provision of our holiday itineraries and the services of our suppliers. Any increases we are forced to make will be advised not less than 30 days before departure. We reserve the right to increase the cost of any unsold holidays due to such increased costs if we have to. We hope that this will not happen and the reasons for any increases will be fully explained.
