Valleys,_Kasbahs_&_ Desert_Photo_Trail

Group size: 3-6   Holiday duration: 7 - 10 nights. Land only. Please see the Photo Holidays Calendar for prices, dates and availability.

Photography opportunities abound on this Responsible Photography Holiday. Journey across high mountain passes, along beautiful valleys and traverse deep gorges. Explore cool palmeries and encounter the mystery of the kasbah.  There's something magical about the sand dunes, especially in the early evening light and a visit to a bustling town on market day is fascinating. Your challenge will be to capture it all on camera!  Local colour, changing light, beautiful landscapes, lots of different viewpoints and subjects - this holiday is planned with time to enjoy the places we visit and a wide scope of photography. We also discover the intrigue of Marrakech, with its colourful souks, old palaces and, believe or not, quiet corners.

We stay in small hotels, auberges and old kasbahs.  Early starts and a couple of long days travelling are necessary but the reward is lots to see and think about.  Photographically you'll be able to experiment with composition and perspective in some of Gail's favourite places and she will be on hand for individual help, suggestions, tuition and guidanceOver informal suppers you can enjoy talking about your photography with fellow travellers who share the same interest. Digital photographers can back up, re-charge and review their work regularly throughout the holiday. Meeting local people gives an insight into their way of life, culture and traditions. We request participants to be respective and sensitive towards the people we meet, and to follow cultural guidelines and protocol.

Itinerary

The first night or two are spent in Marrakech and then we head off to explore the south of Morocco. During the next few days we journey through the Atlas Mountains and the Telouet Valley. We  trail in and out the route of 1000 kasbahs, weave  our way through beautiful  valleys eventually reaching the sand dunes at the beginning of the Sahara. This desert region is fascinating and offers lots of photographic challenges! Take a dromaderie into the dunes for the sunset, maybe camp in the dunes, or get up very very early for -hopefully - the sunrise. Visit a bustling local town on market day and  gain an understanding of the traditional ways of life in this southern region of Morocco. Have fun with your camera, develop your 'seeing eye' and enjoy time to relax . Finally spend time exploring the walled City of Marrakech.  Full details available on request.
